Scotland could be the destination for conspiracy theory enthusiasts this year as the Scottish tourist board is teaming up with their French counterparts, in advance of the release of the film the Da Vinci Code, in an effort to capture the public interest in the film's various locations.
Maison de la France, VisitBritain and VisitScotland have all come together and agreed on a joint project to entice Da Vinci Code enthusiasts to locations in London,
Paris and
Scotland.
VisitScotland, along with Scottish Screen, have created a short film about the Rosslyn chapel, one of the film's locations, explaining the real history of the 600 year old chapel which will be shown in advance of the the Da Vinic Code's release and hopefully inspire people to visit the real Scottish site.
Peter Lederer, chairman for VisitScotland: "Blockbuster films such as the Da Vinci Code are a real draw for visitors to a country and for us to be working with two of the world's foremost cities, we are really able to create a very enticing package for visitors.
VisitScotland is working to achieve a 50 per cent growth in tourism revenues for Scotland by 2015 with the help of the tourism industry and other partners.
