Birmingham international airport (BIA) has announced their summer programme of flights which this year include the addition of four new airlines.
These include SkyEurope which will offer twice-weekly flights to the Polish city of Krakow, Hapag-Lloyd which will fly five times a week to Cologne, and Slovenia's national airline Adria Airways which will fly a weekly service to Ljubljana.
Brand-new airline Flywho, which will launch its first ever flight on July 8th, flying from
Birmingham to Orlando, Florida, is the fourth new company.
Flywho will offer a non-stop service to St Petersburg-Tampa once a week and Orlando Sanford twice-weekly.
"Every year Birmingham Airport continues to attract more and more airlines, which in turn increase the range of destinations on offer to our passengers and to the region," Richard Heard, the Airport’s managing director said.
"This is partly because airlines are becoming increasingly more aware of the excellent facilities available to their passengers from BIA and right now we are investing £30 million pounds on improving our retail and catering facilities and updating the terminal buildings to offer more choice and greater passenger satisfaction."
Birmingham international airport reported that in February passenger numbers were up five per cent on figures for the same period in 2005, with a total of 598,583 passengers travelling through the airport's two terminals.
