Fly into the city of the Blues and get an education in musical history this June as the 23rd annual Chicago Blues festival once again sets up home in the city's Grant Park.
From June 8th to 11th music lovers in
Chicago can enjoy a whole host of blues performances in the open air, lakefront setting of Grant Park, beginning with a day celebrating "The first time I met the Blues" which will be a celebration of the centennials of Roosevelt Sykes and Eurreal "Little Brother" Montgomery.
This year's festivities will focus on the blues' long history looking back across everything from the Vicksburg Blues to Howlin' Wolf's 44 Blues, the St. Louis Blues and St. James Infirmary.
Blues fans can enjoy soulful celebrations through each of the four days with the main stage performances, featuring names such as Walter Wolfman Washington and the Roadmasters, and Zydeco Joe Mouton, complimented by the festivals many sideshows, make-shift gigs and impromptu jamming sessions.
With the arrival of the evening the crowds then take to the long-established Blues bars and clubs of
Chicago to continue the musical celebrations long into the night.
