Travellers searching for new Middle Eastern destinations to fly to may be interested in the news that
Qatar Airways has increased its number of flights between the UK and its capital city Doha.
Qatar is a small nation on the Arabian peninsular which only began issuing tourist visas in 1989 but is now welcoming tourists to explore its ancient desert culture and wealthy modern cities.
In Doha visitors can view a mix of traditional and modern Arabic architecture, from the many domes of the Grand Mosque to the New Amir's Palace.
Outside of the capital there are many historic sites, including the town of Umm Salal Mohammed, which is dominated by the ruins of a 19th-century fort and at Al-Shahaniya visitors can witness camels roaming in the desert, as well as camel racing in the purpose-built stadium.
Qatar Airways, following talks between the British and Qatari authorities, is now offering three flights per day between
Doha and London Heathrow and a daily flight into and out of Manchester, Travel Mole reports.
"This is excellent news for the travelling public. More flights mean greater choice," Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airline chief executive officer, commented.
"Qatar Airways has been looking forward to adding capacity across the UK, but in particular London Heathrow, which is our flagship route."
