Princess Turnadot is to arrive at
Sydney's opera house this summer, allowing visitors the opportunity to experience a grand performance in the famous landmark.
Puccini's last opera is to be performed by Opera Australia from July 14th - September 12th 2006.
The tale is one of an ice-cold Asian princess who puts to death suitors who cannot answer her riddles and takes place in a breathtaking set-design of China's Forbidden City. The famous score includes Nessun dorma, probably better known as the 1990 World Cup theme sung by Pavarotti.
Sydney Opera House is worth a visit not just for the photographic opportunity but for the quality of productions that take place inside.
Prices start from only AUS$52 (£21) and while the performance is in Italian, there are subtitles in English to allow the audience to follow the story.
Choreographer Graeme Murphy is coordinating and is well known for his previous acclaimed work on Swan Lake and the Nutcracker.
Both the quality of the score and the performers means that Princess Turnadot is likely to be well worth the time of any visitor to the area to experience the cultural side of
Sydney.
Performances start at 7.30pm local time with a matinee at 1pm on August 5th and 12th for the captivating three hour 20 minute tale of Princess Turnadot and her suitor Prince Calaf.
