Over a third of airline passengers would download from Apple's iTunes if available according to a new survey.
In the poll for FlightGlobal.com, 38 per cent of respondents said that they would download tunes from the seat-back entertainment system if it were possible.
The world's largest provider of legal musical downloads is already in talks with airline entertainment providers to do so and the latest poll suggest that it could be a popular move.
If successful, then in-flight passengers could use frequent flier points to download music and videos onto their iPods.
First class passengers on most flights already have the option to pick and choose videos to watch, but this system looks to go further by allowing all classes to choose films and songs and keep them after landing.
Exactly how this would be achieved has yet to be decided if it does go ahead, but with the global popularity of iTunes matched with this support in this recent poll, passengers could be downloading films in the near future.
