Watersports and extreme sports fanatics can fly into
Hamburg to catch some of the wind and wave action at the annual Professional Kiteboard Riders Association (Pkra) Kitesurf world cup this summer.
Held from August 15th to 20th at the North Sea resort of St Peter-Ording, just north of
Hamburg, the town's unique two kilometre-wide sandy beach provides the perfect spot for catching a wave.
The competition will see some of the world's top kite surfers competing for the freestyle cup with prizes for the best trick, in waves of up to one or two meters, depending on the wind.
With registration limited to 48 men and 24 women, the top 12 male riders along with the best six female kit surfers automatically compete with four male and two female wildcard riders chosen by the organiser.
Those wishing to compete must have current Pkra membership.
