Fly to Scotland this summer and head to the highlands and islands for a true taste of Scottish culture at the 129th annual Skye Highland Games.
Held this year on August 9th at The Lump in Portree on the Isle of Skye, the games are the perfect opportunity for visitors to sample the traditional pursuits of caber tossing, stone putting and tug-of-war.
The day's competitions also include various other track and field events, highland dancing competitions and piping contests with cash prizes for the best performers.
The games which date back to 1877 have maintained many highland traditions and all the various competitors and sportsmen, both locals and professionals, still don kilts to compete.
Those staying a few days on the Scottish isle can also catch the sailing race heading out of Portree harbour and the start of the piping competition, which takes place the day before the main games.
