Singapore Airlines is launching a brand new service flying from Singapore directly to
Barcelona and
Milan, from July 19.
Singapore Airlines is the only company to service this route, which will see services fly three times a week between South-east Asia and the Mediterranean on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the airline reports.
The addition of these two flights brings the total of European destinations served by Singapore Airlines to 12, with 81 flights each week.
Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines' executive vice-president for marketing and regions, commented: "Both Milan and Barcelona are highly cosmopolitan cities, with a lot to offer to both the business and the leisure traveller.
"With the launch of these flights, Singapore Airlines will be able to meet demand for these destinations from across our Asian and South Pacific network, while also expanding our presence in Europe to 12 gateways," he added.
The addition of Barcelona to the airline's flight schedule also opens up opportunities for easy travel across Spain and even Portugal for those entering Europe from the far east.
In 2005 Singapore Airlines won numerous international awards including the titles of Preferred Airline, in Time magazine and Best Airline in the World, in the Chinese publication, Business Traveller.
