Singapore Airlines this month celebrated 30 years of direct flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Singapore Airlines acknowledged the importance of the UAE market at a special gala dinner in Dubai, attended by guests including the president of the department of civil aviation in Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and His Excellency Dileep Nair, the counsel general for Singapore in the UAE, International Travel Daily News reports.
Lim Meow Seng, general manager of the Gulf Region for Singapore Airlines said: "Singapore Airlines is proud of having served as a point of connection between these two great countries for thirty years, and we look forward to serving our passengers in the years to come."
In March,
Singapore Airlines increased the number direct flights to Abu Dhabi, the federal capital of UAE and the airline's second destination in the region after Dubai, to three times a week.
The airline now serves UAE with thirteen flights a week, with ten to
Dubai and three to
Abu Dhabi.
