Nema reports best ever April figures

Nema reports best ever April figures
Nottingham East Midlands Airport (Nema) has announced that April's passenger figures are 23 per cent higher than they were in April 2005.

It states that 346,151 people travelled through the hub during the course of the month, some of whom were destined for long-haul destinations such as Mexico, the Domincan Republic and Florida – which are all served by the airport.

Nema, which originally opened in 1965, adds that 46,000 passengers used its services over Easter alone, with the most popular short-haul destinations being Dublin, Alicante and Malaga.

Commenting on the figures, Penny Coates, managing director of Nema, said the figures show the "large array of routes" on offer at the airport and that they are "a great start to the summer season and we look forward to more successes this year".

Nema states that it caters for around four million passengers each year and that it has spent around £4.5 million on improving services for its customers.
