Travellers taking a
flight to Ireland this August should take a trip to Killorglin to visit the country's oldest fair, where the goat is king.
The Puck Fair, set in the heart of County Kerry, is a rather unusual street fair which dates back to at least the early 1600s, if not before and has many myths and legends attached to its long history.
Visitors flying to
Cork could take the cross-country trip to sample some ancient Irish culture at the three day fair, which runs from August 10th to 12th, with its traditional horse fair, street entertainers, competitions, traditional singing and dancing and of course the parade and the coronation of the goat King Puck.
The crowned goat, who even gets his own festival queen, presides over the three days of festivities, which each year attract over 100,000 people, before he is turned loose into the wilds of the Kerry countryside.

Puck Fair.
