Travellers planning to
fly to New York this summer can look forward to kicking back and saving some cash as the world's capital of cool is planning a programme of free events.
Throughout July and August,
New York's Hudson River Park is hosting a whole range of free public events on its river piers; from fishing and river workshops (rods and bait provided) to Saturday night open air dance bands with free dance lessons, rock concerts and open air boxing tournaments.
One of the most popular events in the programme though is the annual RiverFlicks film festival, which will be screening two programmes of free open air movies throughout July and August, with free popcorn for everyone.
The One Mean Summer series will be screened on Wednesdays on Pier 54 presenting classics such as Jaws, Goodfellas and A Clockwork Orange, while the more family-friendly Big Adventures series will show every Friday on Pier 46 with kids' favourites including Chicken Run, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and ET.
For more information check out the
Hudson River Park website.
