Long haul travellers who
fly to Vietnam could enjoy an increased number of domestic flights as Vietnam Airlines is to increase it internal services.
The airline will stagger the introduction of the services, with three more weekly flights to be introduced between
Ho Chi Minh City and Buon Ma Thuot beginning on May 20th – there are currently seven flights a week – and additional daily flight between Ho Chi Minh City and
Da Nang will commence from July 1st, reports Thanh Nein Daily.
The peak season flights to Buon Ma Thuot will be on ATR turbo prop aircraft while the
Da Nang services will operate on Airbus A3230/321s.
However, the increase in domestic services may not be limited to the summer as the airline is also considering the introduction of a route between Hanoi to Bon Ma Thuot for this winter.
The news follows a recent announcement that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) is to open a range of new tourist offices overseas, with new bases in the US, China, Germany and Australia between 2007 and 2010, reports the Vietnam News Agency.
Vietnam Airlines was originally formed in 1956 with five aircraft – it now serves 13 domestic locations and 23 overseas destinations.
