Those planning a
flight to the USA could save money in a variety of ways, according to travel advice from the Associated Press (AP).
One main tip is that people looking to take a holiday during or around the peak season should steer clear of the most popular holiday dates.
The AP states that booking your flight or hotel in June or September could offer a cheaper option than if people were travelling during July and August.
A further recommendation is that people travelling to beach or coastal destinations should opt for a hotel that is a little further away from the coastline, "instead of splurging for an ocean view".
Speaking to the AP, travel writer Pauline Frommer also said that travellers could also save money by choosing less popular destinations, such as
Mexico,
Australia or the
Caribbean.
All these destinations offer the long haul traveller a range of experiences and activities. Mexico for instance offers the evidence of ancient Mesoamerican civilisations, as well as the beaches and activities available in cities such as Acapulco.
Pauline Frommer has written a range of travel guides covering destinations such as Italy, Hawaii and New York City. She is also a regular contributor to Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel Magazine.
