The King of
Thailand celebrates the 60th anniversary of his accession to the throne this summer and grand celebrations are taking place in his honour across the country.
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the longest reigning monarch in the history of Thailand and to mark the occasion the Royal Barge Procession, which is reserved for nationally auspicious events, will proceed in June.
Anyone planning to grab a
flight to Thailand next month should make their way to the Chao Phraya River to see the water procession which is organised by the Royal Thai Navy.
A total of 52 traditional-style barges, including four major royal vessels, will parade down the river in honour of their ruler.
Travellers
flying to Thailand will join monarchs and heads of state from 29 nations, who are there to view the procession.
June 12th is the date of the event that will take place between 19:30 and 20:30 local time.
A song, composed by Captain Thongyoi Saengsinchai, a retired naval officer, will be chanted as the procession progresses.
