Passengers who
fly to Helsinki are set to enjoy a quicker, more efficient boarding process.
The city's Vantaa Airport is to introduce new video monitoring software that will automatically detect queues, allowing the management at the airport to open addition check-in desks and reduce waiting times as a result.
Jyri Vikstrom, head of corporate security at the Finavia, which is the company that runs the airport, said that the Vantaa Airport uses over 500 cameras, which can be used to both remove queues and assist security personnel by detecting vehicles that are parked in restricted zones.
Mr Vikstrom states that by doing this, security personnel will "have enough time to focus on genuinely serious security breaches".
The airport has also announced recently that it will be launching additional services to
Hong Kong.
People wanting to
fly to Hong Kong from
Helsinki will be able to take the 17:00 local time
Finnair service and arrive in the city at 07:45 local time the next day.
The new Helsinki-Hong Kong service, which is set to begin in July, will run three times a week.
