Those who take a
flight to Los Angeles at the end of this summer may want to join over 500,000 spectators at a four-day celebration of classic cars.
Between September 14th and September 17th 2006, the home of Hollywood celebrates the Route 66 Rendezvous.
Over 1,600 autos will compete in a number of events, including the best neon light decorations, the loudest engine and the crowd pleaser awards.
The Los Angeles AOL city guide indicates that perhaps the "most fun" event is the Poker Run, whereby rally drivers draw poker hands at certain stages of the race and can win cash prizes for choosing the best cards.
Route 66 Rendezvous takes place in
Los Angeles every mid-September and has been doing so for the previous 16 years.
The car show covers 35 blocks of downtown San Bernardino and the organisers are urging visitors to book a space for their cars.
In addition to the cars, travellers
flying to Los Angeles will be able to enjoy enough food "to satisfy even the most demanding tastes", according to the organisers.
