Anyone travelling to
Egypt this summer to visit the Pyramids may wish to make the trip at night.
Each evening, the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids of Giza takes place, aiming to bring alive the 5,000-year-old monuments to the dead pharaohs of Ancient Egypt.
Those who grab a flight to
Cairo can experience one of the seven remaining wonders of the world at anytime of day, but the night time show creates a different type of atmosphere.
The show begins with the story of the Sphinx, which has guarded the city of
Cairo for 5,000 years, before showing the story behind the building of the three Pyramids - Keops, Kephren and Mykerinos.
In addition, the show links in information about some of the famous figures from Ancient Egypt, such as Thutmosis IV, Akhnaten, Nefertiti and Tut Ankh Amon.
Sightseeing travellers
flying to Cairo can also take in the Egyptian Museum, which is located in downtown Cairo in the heart of the Midan Tahrir district.
