For a taste of one of the most interesting popular culture festivals in the
United States grab a
flight to Seattle this September.
More than just music, for three days from September 2nd to 4th the Bumbershoot festival which has been around since the 1970s, provides a city centre platform for a broad umbrella of bands, arts and creative performances.
Visitors to
Seattle can sample anything from the visual arts, literary programme, dance, theatre, film or even take part in a roller derby, as well as a musical line-up featuring top international artists alongside emerging and alternative performers, at the city's Seattle Center.
This year's band programme includes Kanye West, Badly Drawn Boy, A Tribe Called Quest, AFI, Zero 7, Jose Gonzalez and Lady Sovereign among many others.
Tickets for the headline acts are free but can only be obtained on the day of the show with a limited number available, so visitors are recommended to get there early and join the queue.

Bumbershoot website.
