Bringing together art, fashion and performance, the annual Montana World of Wearable Art (Wow) Awards Show in
Wellington is entirely unique event worth grabbing a
flight to New Zealand to see.
Held over two weekends from September 21st to 24th and September 28th to October 1st visitors to
Wellington can catch any number of the eight performances showcasing a collection of amazing and innovative garments from designers around the world.
From its humble beginnings as a small promotion event for a rural art gallery, the art exhibits have been transformed into a full scale theatrical show using the human body as the canvas and blurring the lines between fashion and art.
Around 30,000 spectators attend the event, which last year attracted 39 international designers including contributions from
Thailand,
Canada,
Taiwan,
Singapore and
Australia.
This year's show has seven different award categories including the AT & T Illumination Illusion Section in which requires designers to create performance pieces utilising UV light.
More information on the shows can be found at the
World of Wearable Art website.
