Action film star Jackie Chan is to be the first Asia-Pacific Tourism Ambassador.
Announced yesterday, the move will see Jackie Chan promote tourism and its role in combating poverty throughout the region.
Commenting on this new role, the fighting film star said that he is "honoured" to represent the region adding that "when I slide down a building, I will make sure it becomes a tourist attraction".
"I will do my best to achieve the tasks you have given me: to promote tourism in a healthy and sustainable way, and to help people who are less fortunate through tourism," he added.
Francesco Frangialli, secretary general of the World Tourism Organisation, said that he is "extremely happy" that Jackie Chan is helping to promote the region.
Jackie Chan has appeared in a number of films including Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, Shanghai Noon and The Tuxedo.
