Travellers who
fly to Sydney in September have the opportunity to walk across Australia in a day as part of the 2006 Great Australian Bushwalk.
Held this year on Sunday September 10th at various locations across the nation, the event is aimed at giving complete novices, as well as experienced bushwalkers, the chance to head out in the wilderness with a community-based bushwalking group.
Set up by the National Parks Association of New South Wales, the walks are all free and give participants a wonderful opportunity to explore some exciting natural habitats from rainforests to mountains, marshland and sand dunes.
Offering the chance to mix with all kinds of new people and show your support for the conservation of the continent's magnificent natural beauty the walks could be the perfect way to see some of this vast and complex country.
For more information on bushwalking and how to get involved check out the
Great Australian Bushwalking website.
