People planning to journey round and see the sights of
Scotland this summer are being encouraged to use public transport, with a number of Scottish travel companies promoting ticket deals over the holiday season.
Visitors flying to
Scotland are being encouraged to take advantage of a number of all-inclusive "rail fare and entry fee" packages, for sights such as the Royal Yacht Britannia, Our Dynamic Earth and the Edinburgh Dungeon, the Daily Record reports.
With plenty of destinations to visit such as the Glasgow Science Centre, Loch Ness Museum, Sensation in Dundee or the Old Town Jail in Stirling, those planning to travel around the country can take advantage of the ScotRail deals.
Other ticket offers include Citylink coach travel and Caledonian MacBrayne ferries which offer the opportunity to take in the highlands and islands of Scotland's west coast.
Scotland has 790 islands, 130 of which are inhabited, the main groups being the Orkney and Shetland isles off the north-east coast and the Inner and Outer Hebrides to the west of the mainland.
