Discover a taste of Tibet in
New York this October as the annual Tibetan Festival returns to Staten Island.
Held at the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art on October 7th the festival offers visitors a unique insight into and the opportunity to sample some elements of Tibetan culture.
Visitors who take a
flight to New York at the beginning of October can enjoy mask-making, traditional children's games, Tibetan crafts and jewellery making as well as traditional foods.
Traditional Tibetan musicians will perform while vendors serve dumplings and butter tea, as part of the day's celebration of food arts and entertainment.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, with those under-four admitted for free.
The museum also offers visitors classes in guided meditation every Saturday, as well as tai chi and yoga classes and there is a permanent exhibition of Tibetan Buddhist art from Tibet, Mongolia, and northern China, dating from the 15th to early 20th centuries.
