Travellers heading to
Australia should be aware that on August 8th country will be conducting a national census.
All visitors, whether on business or backpacking, are being asked to cooperate with the Australian Census, which the government guarantees will be absolutely private and confidential, in order to give a "snap-shot" of the nation.
Everyone will be required to make sure they are included on a census from wherever they are staying on census night.
Travellers staying in paid accommodation such as hotels, hostels, guest houses, caravan parks and serviced apartments, will be given a census form and instructions on how to complete it.
People who are staying with family or friends can be included on their Census form.
The census is designed to give an overall view of
Australia and provide information to the tourism industry in order to plan for the future and provide for both Australians and visitors to the country.
According to Australian government figures, Australia welcomes 158 new migrants into the country each day.
