Travellers planning a trip to South Africa this November should take a
flight to Cape Town for a unique and spectacular whale watching opportunity.
From July until November, the migration route of several whale groups passes by the southern tip of Africa, giving visitors to
Cape Town the opportunity to see humpbacks, southern rights, Bryde's whales and orcas.
Boat-based whale watching offers visitors to the southern cape the opportunity to catch some spectacular experiences, while the town of Hermanus, down the coast from Cape Town, is regarded by some as the best land-based whale watching spot in the world.
There are still only a relatively small number of whale watching boat tours available from
Cape Town, as only 16 permits have been issued nationwide, in order to keep the fast-growing industry in check.
Whale enthusiasts who choose to take to the ocean to catch a glimpse of the creatures won't be disappointed though and may even encounter various dolphin species, African penguins and Cape fur seals, alongside the other oceanic wildlife.

Cape Town whale watching website.
