Visitors to
South Australia and the state of Victoria can look forward to better facilities at some of the regions' top attractions thanks to a series of new projects.
The projects, which are designed to make popular destinations along the Great Ocean Road between
Melbourne and
Adelaide more "tourist friendly", are a joint initiative between a part of the Sealink Travel Group, TravelLink and the South Australian Touring Route.
Three projects will be undertaken to encourage both local and overseas visitors to travel to the Great Ocean Road, Grampians, Murraylands, the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Limestone Coast and the Ballarat Goldfields.
Paul Victory, South Australian Touring Route and TravelLink's Business Manager, commented: "Initial research has highlighted a number of gaps in current tourism services.
"By evaluating all aspects of the route we will be able to better identify the needs of all visitors to the area."
"We hope this will ultimately encourage drivers to take a "scenic route" when travelling between Adelaide and Melbourne," Mr Victory added.
The implementation of the tourism projects' findings is expected to begin in mid-2007.
Visitors heading to
South Australia this September won't be short of entertainment however, as the state's biggest annual event, the Royal Adelaide Show, is set to take place from September 1st to 9th.
