Steeds and their riders are set to take over the town of Golega in
Portugal this November as the National Horse Fair returns once again from November 3rd to 12th.
Take a
flight to Portugal for free entrance to huge traditional equestrian show, which until 1972 was known as St Martin's Fair, and enjoy the historic celebrations which still include a bull run through the streets of the town and a parade of red waistcoat-clad horsemen.
Witness a whole spectrum of horse events at the fair, from formal horse driving competitions which include dressage, marathon and cones with horse and carriage, to traditional parades of riders and carriages.
There is also show jumping and a Gymkana for juniors, as well as a Portuguese horsemanship competition and the national competition of working horses.
Visitors to Golega can also sample the delights of the local cuisine which includes roasted chestnuts, barbequed chicken and the local wine which is known as agua-pe or 'foot water'.

National Horse Fair website.
