Travellers should grab a
flight to Los Angeles this November for a surreal look at the bohemian spirit of the sprawling Californian metropolis.
Held annually in parody of the traditional New Year's Tournament of Roses Parade, the Doo Dah Parade in Pasadena, California is a subversive parade, celebrating no rules and no regulations, with no theme, no judges and no commercials.
This year's parade, celebrating the event's 30th year, will take place on Sunday November 19th in Old Pasadena beginning at 11:30 local time.
Anyone can take part in the parade in any form, although each participant must register beforehand, with some 1,500 people expected to march through the streets in various costumed themes and alternative guises.
Visitors to
LA can also expect live music and of course, the highlight of the parade, a Doo Dah Queen, who is chosen a couple of weeks in advance of the event from the selection of men, women children and animals who register to join the event.

Doo Dah Parade website.
