For a taste of some classical music in truly world class surroundings,
fly to Barcelona this November as the Palau de La Musica Catalana celebrates its centenary season.
Aside from the music, the Palau itself is an historical wonder, built in 1905, originally as a home for the Catalan choral society and which in 1997 was declared a UNESCO world heritage site.
Featuring various orchestras and choirs throughout the month, visitors to
Barcelona can not only marvel at the magnificent modernist architecture, but also catch performances of Mozart's Requiem and Simfonia number 40, on the 1st of the month.
There will also be performances of works by Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, Greig, Bartok and Ravel as part of the centenary and a weekend of swing over the weekend of November 11th and 12th as the Blue Paradise Big Band perform Gershwin, Porter and Berlin alongside a Glenn Miller Tribute.
For more information on tickets and the programme for the rest of the season, visit the
Palau de La Musica Catalana website.
