Royal Jordanian has announced that it has signed an agreement with Spanish airline, Iberia, as part of the process to become a fully-fledged member of the oneworld airline alliance.
The contract between the two airlines will expand the route networks of both carriers and give passengers access to a greater number of destinations.
Iberia is also now the only airline to fly between Amman and Madrid on the
Royal Jordanian code share agreement, within the oneworld alliance.
Members of Royal Jordanian's frequent flier programme will now also be able to earn points when they fly with
Iberia and vice versa.
As part of the alliance programme
Royal Jordanian is also expected to sign agreements with other airlines within the oneworld group, with the support of their lead sponsor,
British Airways.
British Airways owns nine per cent of Iberia, which is based in Madrid and currently lies to 105 destinations around the world.
Iberia also recently signed an agreement with global travel technology provider Worldspan, to distribute the airline's flight information to all its agencies around the world.
