For some seasonal Hollywood kitsch to get you into the holiday mood, visitors planning to
fly to Los Angeles at the end of November should make their way to the Hollywood Christmas Parade.
Now in its 78th year the parade, which will be held this year on Sunday November 26th, is a long-standing local tradition, attracting more than a million spectators each year.
Organised the Hollywood chamber of commerce, featuring various famous faces and numerous colourful and tinsel-bedecked seasonal floats, music and entertainments, the highlight of the Christmas Parade is the arrival of Santa Claus on his sleigh.
Visitors to
LA can buy tickets and join spectators in the official grandstands or catch the parade along its three mile route, which runs along the city's famous Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards.
Originally called the Santa Claus Lane Parade, the first parade took place in 1928, in an effort to attract Christmas shoppers to Hollywood and is later said to have inspired the 1946 Christmas hit song "Here Comes Santa Claus".

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce website.
