Continental Airlines has teamed up with a US travel agency to provide customers with easier access to flight information online.
The carrier has developed a new strategy with Travel Incorporated, a Georgia-based travel firm, which will ensure customers who book their flights through Travel Incorporated are sent an email within 24 hours of departure, Breakingtravelnews.com reports.
Customers receiving this email will be directed to the joint Travel Incorporated/Continental web page where they will then be able to perform their own check-in, print off boarding cards and choose their seats.
According to Monisa Cline, the staff vice president of North America sales for Continental Airlines, this is the first co-branded airline and travel agency check-in website in the country.
President of Travel Incorporated, Mike Brown, stated: "Travel Incorporated has consistently been first to the market with the next generation of service and technological innovations.
"We are gratified that Continental recognises our unique technology capabilities in giving us this opportunity to expedite our travellers' check-in process."
Continental Airlines is reportedly currently in discussion with other travel agencies in order to expand its service.
The carrier, which is the world's fifth largest airline, also recently announced it is to expand its service out of its
New York hub in December, with a weekly flight to Bonaire, in
the Caribbean.
