Malaysian Airlines has released a statement confirming that, despite the current disruption due to the terror alert, their flights to the UK and USA are still operating on schedule.
The flights which operate between
Kuala Lumpur (KL) and London, as well as those which
fly to Los Angeles and
New York from the Malaysian capital, departed on time over the weekend.
The airline currently operates 18 flights a week between KL international airport and London as well as five weekly flights to
Los Angeles via Taipai and three flights to
New York via Stockholm.
Senior general manager for communications, Ms Indira Nair, stated that the airline was increasing its security measures to bring them in line with those currently being implemented in UK airports.
Ms Nair commented: "In addition, with immediate effect, for flights out of London, Heathrow, Malaysia Airlines is implementing the new cabin baggage security measure introduced by the [Department for Transport], United Kingdom which allows one plastic transparent carrier bag per passenger."
"All other cabin baggage will be processed as check-in baggage and uplifted accordingly."
