Travellers who enjoy all that world cinema has to offer should take a
flight to Greece for the 47th annual Thessaloniki International Film Festival this winter.
Taking place across ten days between November 17th and 26th, the festival showcases 150 international and Greek films every year and has previously featured work by Ken Loach, David Cronenberg, Claude Chabrol and Bernardo Bertolucci.
Screenings are held in the Olympion Cinema Complex in Thessaloniki and a range of other events, including live music concerts and art exhibitions, take place in venues nearby.
This year's festival will see particular focus being laid on films from Brazil and China, as well as those centred on the issues surrounding teenage life. Part of the festival will also solely feature work from filmmakers based in
Greece.
Filmmakers can also take part in competition events, where their chosen visual work competes with others for the accolade of the best film of the contest.
See the
Thessaloniki International Film Festival website for more details.
