Britons looking to celebrate the new year in style could catch a
flight to Boston for the city's day-long First Night party.
The event begins in the early afternoon of New Year's Eve and consists of a number of events held at over 40 venues across the city.
Party-goers with the First Night badge can gain access to all of the performances being held, including theatre, film, music, dance and more.
Highlights include the Family Festival, massive ice sculptures and a procession that travels all over
Boston.
Elsewhere, revellers can enjoy shows from Motown tribute groups, masked theatre, puppet shows, an anime convention and swing dancing lessons.
At midnight, visitors marvel at a spectacular fireworks display and head off to one of the city's many parties to celebrate the first hours of 2007.
For further information, see the
First Night website.
