Travellers
flying to New Zealand this December could enjoy a splash of fun at the Coromandel Dive Festival.
Held between December 1st and 3rd in Paku, Tairua, the event aims to celebrate all aspects of the sport of diving.
The three-day festival begins with an underwater photography competition at Alderman Islands, followed by dinner on the deck of a ferry.
Saturday sees the Coastal Pleasure Double Dive, for which divers can hire a boat or bring their own, while the afternoon brings a treat for kids with the Chocolate Scallop Hunt.
Adults can join in the fun with a scallop hunt snorkelling event, held in front of the dive shop in Paku, followed by the Team Scuba Olympics where teams of two divers compete for the top spot in various events.
The highlight of the weekend arrives during Saturday evening in the shape of the Maskerade Ball.
Festival-goers can then recover from the celebrations at a barbecue breakfast on Sunday morning.
This festival is just one of 50 events taking place throughout
New Zealand as part of the Pohutukawa Festival.
