More British holidaymakers travelling abroad are trying to take in foreign culture and food, according to a new survey.
Around 87 per cent of Britons say they attempt to soak up local culture while overseas, with 67 per cent trying to learn a new language, says Saga Travel Insurance.
Older travellers are the most likely to attempt this, while British food appeals to less than one in ten holidaymakers.
However, a number of travellers continue to take food from home when going overseas - half of all visitors to France admit to taking British food with them.
"As our tastes at home become more multicultural, holidaymakers are increasingly keen to try local dishes when abroad," comments Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga.
"However, it would seem that a few home favourites will always find their way into our suitcases."
According to Moneysuperket.com, older travellers should be wary of the increasing price of travel insurance once they hit the age of 66.
It claims that premiums increase by up to 100 per cent for holidaymakers of certain ages.
