Passengers travelling with
Virgin Atlantic will soon be able to get the latest news and gossip sent straight to their seat-back screens.
The airline has teamed up with Sky News to offer a live text news service to travellers flying on any of its planes that are equipped with the V:Port inflight entertainment service.
Sky will provide the latest general, business, entertainment and sports news, as well as weather updates.
"Sky News' innovative text news service will make sure that
Virgin Atlantic passengers receive the latest breaking news, even at 35,000 feet," said Steve Bennedik, editor for Sky News Networked Media.
"For the businessman needing up-to-the-minute financial news, the entertainment fan keeping in touch with all the showbiz gossip, or the newshound who can't live without breaking news, this service will prove invaluable."
Inflight entertainment may soon be set to go live in other ways, with
Qantas announcing earlier this month that it is testing the use of live wireless voice and data services on its flights.
