Cathay Pacific has announced that it is to bring the Chinese city of Shanghai back to its passenger network this December.
The airline will begin daily flights between
Hong Kong and Pudong International in Shanghai after authorities granted it the rights to operate air traffic between the two destinations.
These new services will join Cathay Pacific's 12 existing freighter flights on the same route.
"We are delighted to be flying passengers to
Shanghai once again, after a 16-year break," said Philip Chen, chief executive of the airline.
"Our strong global network and connectivity, plus our fleet of large wide-bodied aircraft, will maximise the efficient use of the additional traffic rights and boost the Hong Kong hub and economy."
Cathay Pacific recently announced that it is to redesign the seating and interiors in all of its passenger classes, giving travellers more room to move about in.
The new designs will be in place from January 2007.
