Qatar Airways has announced that beginning in the New Year, it will offer flights to Tanzania.
The airline is set to begin a four-times-a-week flight between the capital of Qatar,
Doha, and
Dar Es Salaam.
An Airbus A319 will fly the route.
Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker said: "We expect Dar Es Salaam to be a very popular route with tourists from around the world and we are pleased to have at last been able to schedule
Tanzania in our growth strategy after months of planning.
"We will be offering our passengers from key markets across
Europe,
Middle East and Asia with convenient connections over Doha to and from Dar Es Salaam."
The airline is constantly seeking to expand its routes, based on either the business or leisure needs of its customers, Mr Al Baker added.
Qatar Airways already has an extensive African network, flying to 11 destinations across the continent.
Qatar, with a population of 885,359, currently has one of the highest rates of income per capita in the world.
