Travellers with a green thumb may want to jump on a
flight to Singapore for the country's very first Singapore Garden Festival this winter.
The event takes place between December 16th and 25th and showcases the best of the world's landscapes and gardens as created by experts from the renowned Chelsea Flower Show, Floriade and Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, among others.
Six main sub-events make up this
Singapore show – landscape gardens, fantasy gardens, international gardens, the Garden Fiesta festival, the Singapore Orchid Show and a marketplace.
Visitors to the event can take in a colourful array of creations ranging from the beautiful to the bizarre, with the Garden Fiesta providing fun for the family through a variety of performances, tasty treats and exhibitions.
With
Singapore set to host the 2011 World Orchid Conference, the festival's orchid show will provide a sneak preview of some of the flowery delights that the country has to offer.
And those inspired to create their own green wonders at home can buy a vast range of goods at the marketplace to set them on their way.
For more information on this event, see the
Singapore Garden Festival website.
