British travellers are increasingly opting for action-packed adventure holidays over those offering the chance to relax, according to a new survey.
The survey by Carrentals.co.uk revealed that more than a fifth of holidaymakers prefer energetic breaks, with women leading the pack, reports TravelMole.
Adventurous activities cited by respondents included base jumping, mountain boarding, shark diving and storm chasing, along with relatively sedate pursuits such as speed dating.
"A growing number of holidaymakers are no longer happy to spend two weeks lying on the beach," commented Richard Game, chief operating officer for Carrentals.co.uk.
"With longer working hours, holiday time is increasingly precious, meaning people want to make the most of their time away."
A survey by AA Travel Insurance earlier this month indicated that a growing number of retirees want to go on holidays involving risky activities such as hot air ballooning and safaris.
