British Airways is to launch new indirect flights from the Middle East to
Calgary, according to reports.
The airline is set to bring in flights to the Canadian city from the UAE and other locations in the region via London Heathrow from December.
This new route will fly five times a week and could prove popular with oil and gas executives who regularly travel between
Canada and the
Middle East.
"The oil and gas industry is one of the largest employers in the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council and its executives can now link into the Calgary service with a same-day connection at Heathrow via British Airways' direct flights from the UAE,
Qatar,
Bahrain,
Kuwait and
Oman," Paul Starrs, British Airways' commercial manager for the Middle East and Pakistan, told the Times of Oman.
"Middle Eastern links to Canada are extensive, with many Canadian nationals living and working in the region and this new service also brings them closer to home," he added.
Business Traveller UK magazine voted
British Airways as the best airline to travel with in an awards ceremony last month.
