The number of travellers
flying to Singapore in August rose by 7.2 per cent to reach more than 870,000, according to new figures.
July saw a higher number of 913,000, which was a record figure, said the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
The numbers build on the 4.7 million holidaymakers who travelled to the south-east Asian island during the first half of the year.
"A significant number of new travellers visiting us are now coming from the Middle East region," commented Ke-Wei Peh, area director,
Middle East and
Africa, for the STB.
"We're delighted with the latest figures and we certainly hope to increase on these numbers in the next four months of the year."
Last month, the STB said that it wants to attract more business travellers to
Singapore and intends to put on bigger and better business events and conferences in order to do so.
