Britons searching for the perfect traditional Christmas break might find it by jumping on a
flight to Berlin for its annual WeihnachtsZauber Gendarmenmarkt fair.
The event takes place between November 27th and December 31st, with its star attraction being its crafts market.
This market sells a wide array of wooden, embroidered and jewelled craft products that are made to be given as unique Christmas gifts.
Visitors to this
Berlin market will also be able to indulge themselves in a range of traditional German foods, including gingerbread, mulled wine, sausages and more.
In addition, fun for all the family is put on in the form of bonfires, clowns, acrobats, fairy tale readings, musical performances and special Christmas shows, keeping both adults and children entertained well into the night.
For travellers in
Berlin on New Year's Eve, the market stays opens until 01:00 local time on New Year's Day, offering an alternative to the bigger celebrations at the city's Brandenburg Gate.
See the
WeihnachtsZauber Gendarmenmarkt website for more details.
