Dutch carrier
KLM has announced an expansion plan for its North Atlantic flights in partnership with Northwest Airlines.
The plan includes the launch of the first non-stop service between
Amsterdam and Hartford, Connecticut and new non-stop services from
Detroit to
Brussels and
Dusseldorf.
KLM also intends to replace the aircraft currently flying on its Amsterdam-
San Francisco route and will increase its Amsterdam-
Los Angeles operations by up to five extra flights.
Changes are also expected on routes from Amsterdam to Newark and
New York, with more flights to be operated by both KLM and Northwest.
The two airlines will also increase flights on numerous other North Atlantic paths, to be operated by new modified B757-200 aircraft, which will allow KLM's World Business Class seats to be enjoyed by a greater number of passengers.
Earlier this month,
KLM announced that it would be reducing its fuel surcharge in response to cheaper fuel costs.
