One-fifth of travellers over the age of 50 have had a holiday romance, according to a new survey.
A further fifth of these said they have gone on to marry their holiday partner, the study by Saga Travel Insurance revealed.
The top overseas locations for older holidaymakers' flings were found to be
Spain and
Italy, but these travellers were more likely to find romance in the UK.
British travellers in general also seemed to favour the Mediterranean paradise of
Greece, with holidaymakers also being more likely to enjoy a fling with a fellow Brit than those from
France or
Germany.
"Finding love on the beach is not just something that happens when you are young," said Saga Travel Insurance.
However, a survey conducted by Sky Travel earlier this year found that almost nine out of ten holiday romances end in disaster within a week.
