Britons are increasingly taking holidays away from the coastal areas of
Spain, according to one expert.
More than 30 per cent of online queries about holiday homes made in the last year related to inland
Spain, said rental website Holidaylettings.co.uk.
It claimed that other research from Spanishpropertyinsight.com supported this, with figures indicating a rise in the number of new developments outside of coastal regions.
"Spain has always dominated our holiday home representation," commented Ross Elder, managing director of Holidaylettings.co.uk.
"Coastal properties remain popular as ever, but there has been definite growth in the number of inland properties available to rent through our site."
Mr Elder also predicted a rise in the number of people taking breaks in Spanish cities such as
Barcelona,
Madrid and
Seville to take place in the near future.
Last month, research from Holiday-Rentals.co.uk also found that more people are flocking to cities rather than coastal resorts in a bid to soak up more culture.
